TUSCANY/2008, An Excellent Year

68 productions, 725 working days, over 13 million euros spent by productions in the territory: these are the figures for 2008.


 A year in which Tuscany hosted a number of important productions starting with “Quantum of solace”, the 22nd James Bond movie.


Many other productions known to TV viewers were also filmed in the region last year: the Raiuno drama about Giacomo Puccini was shot in Montecatini and Lucca by Giorgio Capitani.


The Toscana Film Commission also provided assistance for another production about Puccini (“La fanciulla del lago”) directed by Paolo Benvenuti, scenes of which were filmed in Pisa, Lucca and Torre del Lago.


Plus: “Giulia non esce la sera”, by Giuseppe Piccioni, was made in Lucca, Viareggio, Livorno and San Rossore, and “Matrimoni e altri disastri” was filmed in florence and Badia a Coltibuono.


llaria Occhini won the Best Actress award at the last Locarno film festival for “Mar Nero” directed by Tuscany’s Federico Bondi, whereas sovicille and Colle Val d’elsa (siena) provided the backdrop for “L’uomo che verrà “, Giorgio Diritti’s tale about the Marzabotto massacre.
