The set of “My Brilliant Friend”, the HBO-Rai-Timvision TV series directed by Saverio Costanzo is also coming to Pisa. In fact the Tuscan university town is the place where Elena, one of the two protagonists of the novels by Ferrante, goes to study.
The production (Wildside and Fandango with Umedia) did some location scouting during the summer in collaboration with Pisa City Council, the Università Normale and the Toscana Film Commission, and the casting process, carried out inside the Manifatture Digitali Cinema Pisa, was attended by 3000 people over two days.
Filming will start between September and October.
In the same period, filming will take place in Tuscany, around Arezzo and Volterra, on the mini-series “Leonardo”, produced by Lux Vide for Rai Fiction, together with Frank Spotniz’s Big Light Production.
This is one of the first projects to come out of The Alliance, the production group that brings together the biggest European broadcasters: RAI, France Televisions and the German ZDF, who announced their intention last March to unite in a joint venture in order to compete against the streaming giants like Amazon and Netflix.
