“Leonardo” will be aired on Rai 1 until April 13. It was filmed in the middle of the pandemic, mainly in Lombardy and Lazio, where Renaissance Florence and Milan were reconstructed at Formello, in Rome, in an area adjacent to the Studios of Lux Vide which produced the series in collaboration with Rai Fiction and Big Light Productions, in association with France Télévisions and RTVE.
Around 500 people were involved in the project which entailed over 1,900 hours of work, using 3,000 extras and 2,500 costumes.
Some of these can now be viewed in the new Manifatture Digitali Cinema Prato exhibition room which was inaugurated at the end of February 2021. They were made by the participants of the Bottega di Alta Specializzazione (High Specialization Workshop) Costumi Rinascimento 2 – I Tempi di Leonardo (Renaissance Costumes 2- The Times of Leonardo), held between September and November 2019 under the guidance of Costume Designer Alessandro Lai. The series is distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
