“This is the story of all stories”, says Stefania Ippoliti, director of the Toscana Film Commission and president of the national association of Film Commissions.
In fact the Medici family is at the heart of the Tuscan story on which the identity of this land and its inhabitants is built.
A story of which the whole of Europe is proud, but which it cannot be assumed is well known in every corner of the planet.
“The international appeal of this television series will bring the Medici to the collective imagination of millions of people who probably know nothing about this family and the Renaissance”.
The Tuscan locations for the series are not limited to Florence’s Piazza del Duomo and the Baptistery; in fact most of the filming took place in other unique settings such as Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico d’Orcia and Pistoia where time seems to have stopped at an age of ancient splendor.
The wealth of our region and, consequently, our Film Commission, is what makes it possible for us to attract and welcome productions all over Tuscany.
“I believe that productions like “Medici” maximize the supremacy of our region and the skill of our people who have managed to preserve the exceptional heritage left to us by our illustrious ancestors. We are proud” she concludes, “to be able to offer Cinema and its stories the beauty of our locations, the magnificent fruits of Man’s labors”.
