RAI TRADE/Top titles at MIPTV

Rai Trade has a record number of new titles it is bringing to MIPTV. There are several television market premieres in feature, fiction, format , documentary and animation genres.


Leading the slate is “The Viceroys” , an historical drama directed by Roberto Faenza, in both mini-series and feature versions.

In the longer series formats for fiction Rai Trade has several high profile police personalities.
They include “Lady Detective” by Cinzia TH Torrini (8 x 100′), “Chief Detective De Luca”, directed by Antonio Frazzi ( 4 x 100′).
The successful “Inspector Coliandro” is already in production with 4 new titles.


These police titles all follow the phenomenal success of “Detective Montalbano” which has been one of Italy’s most successful international exports.


Rai Trade will be premiering at MIPTV new titles for factual programming.


The first is in the doc-film format “Maybe God is ill”, (documentary 90′) directed by Franco Brogi Taviani and based on the book by Walter Veltroni.


“Callas Cooking” by Marco Kuveiller is a new original documentary tracing the opera singer’s love of good food and her searches for special recipes.


“A Prince named TOTO’ “(documentary 70′) by Fabrizio Berruti, describes the life, and the high and lows of Italy’s most famous comedian Totò.


Rai has gained an international reputation with its miniseries format and RAI TRADE will be handling international distribution for its latest new titles.
These include, “Chiara and Francesco” (2 x 100′) a drama on the lives of Francis and Claire, in Assisi.
Then there is the popular “Maresciallo Rocca” now on its sixth production with Maresciallo Rocca and a childhood friend. (2 x 100′) .
