Naples is the cameo in “The Happy Prince”, the movie about the life of Oscar Wilde starring and directed by Rupert Everett which will be presented at the Berlinale in the Berlinale Special Gala section.
The scenes of the movie which cover Wilde’s visit with his partner, Douglas, in the last years of his life, were filmed in the regional capital in October 2016 with the assistance of the Film Commission Regione Campania which also helped during the search for the locations: Villa Volpicelli in Posillipo, the Morra vine on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the streets in the historic center of Naples and the Vesuvius National Park. “After Locarno and Venice we will once again see the Campania region at a big international festival” comments Maurizio Gemma, the director of the Film Commission Regione Campania.
