MIPTV returns to Cannes from March 30 to April 2 in the totally revamped guise of the Global Content Market for the Future.
From the design to the reorganization of the spaces and the stands, to new forms of networking: everything has been designed to create a different market concept, no longer at the service of distribution, but which decisively supports the content industry in structuring itself for the future.
The spring rendezvous of the Cannes market will as usual be preceded by two days dedicated to Documentaries (MipDoc) and a showcase of the best formats (MipFormats) which, this year will be curated by The Format People, the international consultancy group on formats led by Michel Rodrigue and Justin Scroggie.
Korea, the most “wired” country in the world in relation to download speeds and streaming content, is the country of honor at this edition, with 122,962 television product titles exported in 2018 (up 8.4% from the previous year) and a turnover of $ 326.8 million.

In a year in which even the Korean film industry is in the spotlight more than ever with the Oscars won for “Parasite”, “delegates will have the opportunity to see the best of the Korean Wave of TV and online content, which has recently produced some huge international hits,” says Laurine Garaude, Director of the Television Division at Reed MIDEM, which organizes MIPTV.
These include MBC’s “The Masked Singer”; while “The Good Doctor”, ABC’s adaptation of a Korean drama from KBS, has been named the most-watched television drama in the world, with a global audience of almost 50 million viewers.
Moreover, for the third consecutive year, MIPTV will be preceded and accompanied by CANNESERIES, the festival in which ten international TV series will compete.
