From 1st June, the first ten audiovisual companies in the Polo Audiovisivo – Audiovisual Center of Cornigliano (Genoa) will officially move into the prestigious location of Villa Bombrini.
Another 6-7 should be joining them in September-October.
The Center, set up on an initiative by the Genova-Liguria Film Commission, aims to offer small companies in the audiovisual sector office space (with a super-fast data network, parking facilities and a caretaker service), as well as consultancy services, access to funding and common areas for holding meetings and screenings.
Inside the Villa, which is already one of the favorite locations used by producers of video clips, shorts and commercials (9 productions were filmed there in one year, the last being an episode of “Storie Maledette”, produced by the RAI), there are ambients which can be used for exterior shots, whilst a Cineporto is being realized to which the Center’s companies will have privileged access.
The Cineporto is located in the building adjacent to Villa Bombrini which, until just a few years ago housed the head offices of Ilva (formerly Italsider).
From steel to audiovisual productions, once the structure has been completed it will include areas for sets/carpentry, costumes/dressmaking/tailoring departments, as well as production offices, warehouses and a large parking area for production vehicles. Additional services will include a bar/canteen and guest accommodation with 8 bedrooms and bathrooms, to be made available to production companies.
The structure should be ready by next November.
A preview of the Cineporto of Genoa will be presented during the Happy Hour organized by the Genova-Liguria Film Commission at the Cannes Film Festival on 19th May (from 12.30 p.m. “” 2.00 p.m. at the Association of Italian Film Commissions stand, Pantiero area, International Village).
