The Italy for Movies App, previewed at the last Cannes Film Festival and released during the Venice Film Festival, is finally available for all iOS and Android mobile devices.
Designed, at the moment, in Italian and English with the possibility of adding other languages, it has a menu that makes it possible to access the various sections and share the different elements on social networks, giving the user an active role in the identification of places and movies.
Through a dual access dedicated to tourists and agents, the App provides the Italy for Movies services in a smart way, taking advantage of geolocation and mobile use to create personalized itineraries: in fact a map offers the chance to view the points of interest in the vicinity of the user’s position (Location, Films, Games, Itineraries, Incentives).
Thanks to the new App, producers or directors who find themselves near a location or who are interested in a place they are observing for a possible film, can immediately find out about the existence of other locations that are not far away, the incentives available in that geographical area and whether any movies have been filmed there.
The film fan or tourist can discover which products have been filmed in the place they are visiting or in the vicinity and whether that place features in one of the themed itineraries proposed by Italy for Movies.
The release of the App is just the latest goal to be achieved by Italy for Movies, a project by the DG for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cul- tural Heritage and Activities (MIBAC) set up in 2017 and operatively managed by Istituto Luce-Cinecittà with the collaboration of the Italian Film Commissions. 2019 is, in fact, the year of the consolidation of the portal, which began with the candidature for Dubai 2020, as an innovative tool for the promotion of Italian excellence from a multi- sectorial and multidisciplinary viewpoint and the introduction by the Italian Public Function Department among the best practices within the sphere of the Open Government Partnership initiative that proposes to promote transparency, civic participation and the fight against corruption on an international level and disseminate new technologies that support innovation both inside and outside Public Administration.
In the meantime the implementation of the portal content continues in a constant manner: for example, the location section has benefited from the collaborations with the FAI (Italian Environmental Fund) and the DG Museums And Libraries and the Cultural institutions of MiBAC.
