Cinema and television productions bring economic advantages, employment and promote our country. They need to be “captured” like conferences, seminars and visitors from all over the world. This is the shared background for the work carried out by the Film Commissions and the Convention Bureau Italia, with which the Association of Italian Film Commissions has established a memorandum of understanding with the aim of expanding the possibilities of promoting Italy and its culture to the benefit of the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions), audiovisuals and the organization of events in general.
This is one of the agreements and memoranda signed between 2014 and 2015 by the Italian Film Commissions.
Also worth mentioning is the memorandum with the Agenzia per la Coesione territoriale-Agency for Territorial Cohesion (ACT) of which the Sensi contemporanei program is a part, and with the MiBACT (Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism), the main objectives of which include finding funding for the internationalization of activities and supranational networking.
There is also the memorandum with the Associazione Parchi e Giardini d’Italia-Italian Association of Parks and Gardens (APGI), which aims to maximize Italy’s “green” patrimony – regarding it as a resource.
Productions supported by the Film Commissions that belong to the association will enjoy the privilege of being fast-tracked if they want to film in parks and gardens in Italy, which Stefania Ippoliti, president of the IFC, defines as “a goldmine of enchanted and enchanting places which are often located alongside similarly stun- ning buildings and residences that we, in the movie industry, can propose as locations”.
By offering these “charming, often little known places, which are not always easy to obtain because they are precious and delicate, we are able to enrich the variety of our proposals”.
“Another type of secret garden”, continues Ippoliti, “is the one made available by Istituto Luce Cinecittà to productions supported by our Film Commissions which, as a result of the agreement we have signed, can have access to their very rich and unique archive of images and stories at special and very favorable conditions. Finally, among all the exciting collaborations we have launched, I should recall the one with Rai: we have organized a journey around Italy, the Opportunity Tour, to discover the tangible and yet highly imaginative creativity that every corner of our country can offer alongside the Film Commissions, because this great company – Rai – is able to propose beautiful, intelligent and successful stories”.
