FVG/Tornatore and Sutherland in Trieste

It will be the biggest budget movie ever filmed in Friuli Venezia Giulia: after two weeks of shooting in Vienna, on April 30th “ The Best Offer”, a 16 million Euro movie directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, produced by Paco Cinematografica and starring Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Sylvia Hoeks and Donald Sutherland will arrive in Trieste.
An “almost Hollywood-scale” production, comments Federico Poillucci, the director of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission: the crew of around eighty people will be joined by approximately thirty local workers along with thousands of extras.

The film, “a mold-breaking love story”, is set in an undefined central European city and will use historical and high quality locations in Trieste and the surrounding region: shooting will continue for 8 weeks, until June 23rd.

“They were initially due to film for 5 weeks,” says Poillucci, “but then the production company asked us to find more locations, we found them, so they decided to stay for longer”. After Friuli “The Best Offer” will move on to Alto Adige and then Rome. It has received a contribution of 70,000 Euros from the Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Fund.
