The Tertio Millennio Film Fest, now in its nineteenth edition, is celebrating this achievement by introducing some important new features.
The Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo, the creator and promoter of the festival has, in fact, decided to include representatives of the Catholic (in collaboration with SIGNIS), Protestant with INTERFILM), Jewish and Muslim religious communities in the selection committee.
Thus the spirit of interreligious and ecumenical dialogue will penetrate the fabric of the festival not just in terms of the event’s in-depth study of intimate and spiritual themes, but also with regard to the actual organization and promotion of the same.
The Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo will officially announce the first new features for the next edition of Tertio Millennio in the italian Pavilon at the 68th Cannes Film Festival.
This year, the Tertio Millennio Film Fest, established in rome in 1997 under the Patronage of the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, inaugurated by Pope John Paul ii, will begin a process of consolidation and profound renewal. The main objective of the Festival has always been to study the themes of spirituality, dialogue with others and interior growth, offering space to undistributed movies worthy of attention from all over the world.
Moreover, premieres and restored movies from the international film industry will be presented during the film fest, which is held in historic and prestigious venues around rome.
Over the years the Festival has received support from the Cinema Directorate-general of the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo (italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism) and the Roma Lazio Film Commission, as well as from the partnership with istituto Luce-Cinecittà and the collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Cineteca Nazionale, Rai Cinema and the Progetto culturale promosso dalla Chiesa italiana, and has also been awarded the Plaque of representation of the President of the italian republic.
This year the Tertio Millennio Film Fest will truly be a festival of interreligious dialogue, a place and a time for peace and sharing. Something we really need.
