Naples will once again be the protagonist of the Venice Film Festival with “The Mayor of Rione Sanità” by Mario Martone who is in competition for the Golden Lion for the second year running.
In the meantime, the panorama of TV series that are being filmed in the city with the support of the Film Commission Regione Campania continues to be extremely lively.
The production of “My Brilliant Friend” (Rai Fiction, HBO, TIMvision, Wildside, Fandango, Umedia) returned to the Campania region, in particular to Naples, Ischia and Caserta, last May in order to film the second season based on the novel “The Story of a New Name”.
“Mare Fuori”, a Pico Media production directed by Carmine Elia, starring Carolina Crescentini, is being filmed around the center, the port and Cumana station, whereas from July 22, Alessandro D’Alatri is shooting “Il commissario Ricciardi” (production Clemart), in the San Ferdinando district (Piazza del Plebiscito and Piazza Trieste e Trento), Forcella and the Port of Naples.
In July, the historic city center and the Port, together with the Lungomare of Via Caracciolo, Via Parthenope and Via Nazario Sauro also provided the set for “Vivi e lascia vivere”, the series produced by Bibi Film, directed by Pappi Corsicato and starring Elena Sofia Ricci.
In July, Naples also hosted three theatrical productions: the directing debut of Giampaolo Morelli, “7 ore per farti innamorare” (production by IIF), filmed around the center, the Fine Arts Academy, the Lungomare of Via Parthenope and Via Caracciolo, Mergellina, Marechiaro, Pozzuoli, Bacoli, and some hospital structures; “Fantasmi a Napoli” directed by and starring Christian De Sica, alongside Carlo Buccirosso and Gianmarco Tognazzi, also set in the Posillipo, the Vomero district (San Martino), the Monumental Complex of the Girolamini, and the Archeological Park of the Phlegrean Fields (Indiana Production) and “Querido Fidel” by Viviana Calò with Gianfelice Imparato, produced by Tele Aut.
The locations also involved some historical educational structures in the historic center, Bagnoli, the Rione Sanità and the Cemetery of Poggioreale.
