CALABRIA/Mainetti in Sila

One year after the filming of the international television series “Trust” directed by Danny Boyle, the Parco Nazionale della Sila [La Sila National Park] is once again the protagonist of the new feature film from Gabriele Mainetti, “Freaks Out”, set in 1943 starring Claudio Santamaria, produced by Lucky Red and Goon Films with Rai Cinema, in co-production with Gapfinders (Belgium).

The original story-line is by Nicola Guaglianone and the screenplay was written by Guaglianone himself together with Gabriele Mainetti.
It was filmed over 12 weeks in Rome and Calabria and filming will continue in La Sila in the month of September. The Calabrian locations were the municipalities of Spezzano della Sila (Camigliatello Silano) and Casali del Manco (locality Tre Pini).
The film, realized with the support of the Calabria Film Commission, also features the stunning steam train that the Railroad’s general director for Calabria, Giuseppe Lo Feudo, defines as “a regular movie star”.
