The leading product from The Animation Band and Rai Fiction, “Ulysses, my name is Noman”, is a 26 x 30′ episode series for kids aged from 5 to 12 where, just like in the historic novels, the imaginative element occupies the space ignored by history, expanding Homer’s tales to include new adventures and characters, creating an even more epic-adventurous version.
Directed by Giuseppe Maurizio Laganà , production is currently in full swing (delivery is scheduled for the end of the year), and features the exciting drawings of Massimo Rotundo, now the subject of the “Ulisse: l’Odissea del Segno “” Ulysses: the Odyssey of the Sign” exhibition at the Cartoon Village in Rapallo, curated by Rai Fiction and The Animation Band, to be held during Cartoons on the Bay.
The artistic director for the Mondadori-De Agostini series “I Grandi Miti Greci a fumetti”, Rotundo is a famous name in the world of Italian comic strips and has worked with some of the most prestigious publishing houses, including Bonelli.
He has also worked in cinema and theater for big name directors like Julie Taymor, Martin Scorsese, Luca Ronconi and Roman Polanski. Around forty original illustrations will be on exhibition in Rapallo from the Rai Due series which will also be the subject of a workshop for schools. All the other current The Animation Band productions have been completed.
From the end of March, every Saturday, Rai Tre will be screening the new episodes of “Stefi’s world” based on Grazia Nidasio’s cartoons, very soon Rai Due will be presenting “Stellina”, a 26 x 30′ episode series starring a resourceful and slightly rebellious 10 year old girl and, later on, we will see the arrival of “LMN’S”, which is filmed in HD, like “Stefi” and “Ulysses”.
